"Shoplifters" Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at Oscars Hirokazu Kore-eda's Feature Film Co-financed and Produced by AOI Pro.

AOI Pro. is excited to announce that Hirokazu Kore-eda's feature film "Shoplifters", co-financed and produced by AOI Pro., has been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards. This is the first time in 10 years for a Japanese live-action film to be nominated for this category, and also the first Oscar nominee as a film co-financed and produced by AOI Pro. Winners will be revealed at the Academy Awards ceremony on February 24.

"Shoplifters", Palme d’Or winner at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, has been awarded and nominated in numerous pre-Oscar shows including Best Foreign Language Film Award at the 2018 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards and the nomination for Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language of the 76th Golden Globe Awards.

Synopsis: After one of their shoplifting sessions, Osamu and his son come across a little girl in the freezing cold. At first reluctant to shelter the girl, Osamu’s wife agrees to take care of her after learning of the hardships she faces. Although the family is poor, barely making enough money to survive through petty crime, they seem to live happily together until an unforeseen incident reveals hidden secrets, shaking the bonds that unite them...
